Does anyone have any good and simple sour dough starter recipe that I can use to make wheat breads.
christiane August 29th, 2008 at 8:59 amDid you get your answer? I make Sourdough Bread almost every week as we love it. Here is my Starter Recipe:
2 and 1/4 Tsps Active Dry Yease (I use Bread Machine Yeast)
2 Cups warm water
2 Cups Bread Flour
Mix in Yeast and Water in large glass bowl, stir, set for 10 minutes. Mix in flour. will not be smooth. Cover and let stand for 24 hrs iin a warm place. Stir, cover lightly, place in warm place for 2-3 days or until it bubbles or smells sour, sitr once again. You can now make your bread or refrigerate (cover tightly) until you are ready to make your bread. Replenish every week, 1 cup flour and 1 cup warm water. When you make your bread, replenish starter with same amount of flour/water that you used for bread. Enjoy
Madaline Luher December 3rd, 2009 at 12:47 pmI’ve tried more than once to make starter and it always smells BAD, not fermented/yeasty, if you KWIM. I have smelled GOOD starter and think I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going for. Ideas? I’ve baked ALL our bread for the last 18 months. I have a Zo and use it plus oven baking and am doing pretty well otherwise.
