New York Rye Bread

  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1                cup  water -- plus 2 tablespoons
1         tablespoon  oil
1 1/2    tablespoons  honey
3/4      teaspoon  salt
2          teaspoons  caraway seed
1                cup  rye flour
1 3/4           cups  bread flour
3        tablespoons  vital wheat gluten
3        tablespoons  dry milk
1 1/2      teaspoons  bread machine yeast

Place all ingredients in your machines fully assembled pan in the order
recommended by your machines manufacturer. Place the pan in your machine.
Select the Basic/White cycle and press start.

  • You must not be a fan of Rye Bread, it has quite a different taste. Its the Caraway Seeds, if you don’t like the taste you might cut the caraway seeds in half and see if you like it then.

  • I also made this and it was absolutely delicious. I agree: the one who didn’t like it may not like caraway seeds. Different strokes for different folks!
